“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.” Proverbs 4:25 (NIV)
Walking into a room, I find myself wondering why I went there. Sitting at the computer, I forget what I planned to look up.
I fold the towels on the bed hoping I will remember why I walked into the room in the first place. I check my email hoping something will jog my memory of my purpose for sitting at the computer.
Distractions are everywhere, and they keep us from moving forward.
Wisdom says we need to be focused and watchful. Wisdom directs us to, “Give careful thought to the paths for [our] feet and be steadfast in all [our] ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep [our feet] from evil” (Proverbs 26-27 NIV).
We won’t accidentally fulfill our purpose and walk in the fullness of God’s plan for our lives. We need to be watchful so we do not find ourselves divided in our purpose. We must diligently seek God’s best as we keep our gaze forward.
Recently I have found my plate to be crammed. It all works on paper and when everything goes according to plan, but life rarely goes according to plan.
A friend needs someone to talk things out. Allergies slow me down as I spend the day reaching for tissues. Doctors need to be visited. Calls need to be made.
Then I find myself staying up late to get it all done or divided in purpose. I quickly go through tasks on my to-do so I can get to the next thing and get that done too.
God has called me to write a book, and sometimes blogging can be a distraction to that. So as I’ve sought God for wisdom in going forward, I felt prompted to say good-bye to Wisdom Wednesday.
Now, I must say Wisdom Wednesday is one of my favorite topics to write on because I love God’s Word. So I will continue to pursue God’s heart through His Word because
we uncover God’s heart in God’s Word.
